Personal Freedoms

The Constitution was established to provide the government with necessary powers to govern its citizenry, but these powers were not without limits. Constitutional Amendments have been developed and adopted to ensure that the government does not exceed its powers. Over time, the federal government has found ways to erode constitutional limits and protections. I support states’ rights and a limited federal government.

1st Amendment

In order to ensure that the government does not abuse its powers, the Founders adopted the Bill of Rights. The foremost of these rights are contained in the First Amendment. The freedoms expressed in the First Amendment provide a basis for citizens to think, speak, worship, and act without fear of government intrusion or retaliation. I oppose laws restricting our First Amendment rights. I support bills that protect our fundamental rights: SF 94, HB 150, and HB 178

2nd Amendment

The Second Amendment is a primary freedom that sets the United States apart from other nations. Restrictions on our right to keep and bear arms are a perilous precursor to governmental control. I oppose red flag laws as a denial of due process protections. I also oppose federal overreach resulting in excessive taxation, wait periods, databases (such as HB 151 and SB 105), and restrictions on intrastate commerce. I am a member of the Gun Owners of America.

National Sovereignty

We are a nation of laws. Our country requires that laws be enacted and enforced to maintain the liberty and security of Americans. The failure of our national leaders to secure our boarders has led to an increase in crime and drugs throughout our country and has left Wyoming and other states vulnerable to known and unknown threats. I support efforts to maintain and secure our national boarders as well as those charged with its protection.

Healthcare Autonomy

The fallout from COVID-19 has taught us just how precious and fragile our personal freedoms are. Federal mandates and pressure resulted in decreased trust, mass hysteria, mental health issues, separation from family, loss of jobs, death, and countless other hardships. I believe that healthcare decisions, such as whether or not to receive a vaccine, are deeply personal and individuals and parents are responsible to make appropriate healthcare decisions for themselves and their children. When individuals have concerns about proposed treatments, they should counsel with a competent, trusted medical professional. Government should not be permitted to mandate medical procedures or vaccinations.
