Education

Parents do not only have a right to oversee their children’s education, they are responsible for it. All families have different needs and desires, and our education system should enable parents to decide the best educational situation to fit their family’s needs. I know that our local educators truly care about their students and want to see them succeed. I support teachers and parents who work together to help our kids.

School Choice

Traditional public schools, charter schools, home school, and private schools all play important roles in our education system. Families should be able to have a choice in the education of their children.

Parents and Education

Parental involvement in, and access to, their children’s education is more than a right, it is a responsibility. I applaud recent efforts to increase transparency in schools and I support PCSD #1 and PCSD #6 for their voluntary participation in the Wyoming Department of Education Curriculum Transparency program.

Parents have a right to know what other issues their children are facing including mental health concerns and bullying. I therefore support SF 009 and HB 92. Schools should never take it upon themselves to teach sexual or political ideologies.

Mental Health in Schools

On top of the stresses of learning and gaining necessary social skills, children and teens face increasing challenges from an unprecedented onslaught of mental health issues. While every generation has dealt with their own challenges and circumstances, young people today face an unimaginable amount of pervasive social and mental health issues on a daily basis. We need to address these attacks on our children and give them the skills to be healthy and successful in their education and in life.
